Getting to the Point
Reflection: Understanding Goals
Before we pursue goals, we must understand them—not just what they are, but where they come from, who they serve, and what they really mean in practice. In Leadership3, understanding goals is a process of discernment: uncovering the deeper intentions that lie beneath the surface of tasks and targets. It challenges leaders to move beyond compliance or ambition into clarity of purpose.
This reflection invites you to pause and ask: What are the goals that shape your leadership journey? Were they inherited, imposed, inspired—or truly chosen? Do they align with your core values, and are they responsive to the needs of the wider system you serve? In understanding our goals more deeply, we open a door to more intentional, inclusive, and impactful leadership.
